Your Users Want A Fresh Look for iOS 7

iOS 7 is now ready to ship but is your app ready as well? The OS brings in some new changes along with it and if your app does get an update worthy of the change, it runs the risk of being left behind.

Users downloading apps in the next months to come will want to see a fresh UI, fresh interactions and a whole new fresh experience generally. If your app doesn’t have this freshness, you can be sure to expect 1 star reviews, reduction in download numbers and definitely no chance of an Apple feature.

So how do you fix this? Well, in this series of posts, I will show you three ways in which you can make your app stand out from the bunch. We have been working tirelessly over the summer to make these set of freebies available to you. And the best part of it, you get them for free.

Welcome to the Colorful Era

I am sure you have seen the iPhone 5c. It is obviously targeted at the younger, more playful demographic. One way your app can easily stand out is to add a splash of colour in to your apps.

Not just that, you can also give your users a way to choose their own colour scheme. Now, I want to introduce Color splash. A design template that gives you a big set of colourful backgrounds to use in your apps.

all-phone-1

This template is a one-screen design but don’t let the lightness fool you. It has a list of colourful backgrounds that make your app stand out. Just take a look at the screenshots on this page and you will understand what I mean.

Your apps can have a single colour background to match with the colour of the phone being used. (There should really be an API for this, but for now we are going to have to let the user select their own scheme).

You can also create a colour gradient background. This goes well with Apple’s new multi colour phase for iOS 7.

Step it Up A Notch With Natural Backgrounds

Let’s step it up a notch. Another step up from using just colours is to use what we are calling “Natural Backgrounds”. These are backgrounds taken from Nature pictures and then blurred out of focus to give a nice colour blend.
